News in Mathematics 8, 9 and 10

CAS assignments with integrated GeoGebra.

In mathematics 8, 9 and 10 you will now find separate modules with CAS exercises. With CAS you can, among other things, simplify algebraic expressions, rearrange formulas, solve equations and sets of equations, derive expressions and find integrals. Students who master this tool can, among other things, solve equations and expressions with several variables in a completely new way.

Remember that CAS is a digital aid that students can use on exams.

The video shows a small taste of some of the CAS content.

You will find, among other things, chapters using:

  • CAS for factorization and fractions
  • CAS in exponentiation
  • CAS to solve algebra problems
  • CAS for equations with one or more unknowns
  • CAS for formula conversion
  • CAS in Geometry
  • CAS for calculating functional expressions

Diagnostic tasks in algebra and equations.

Diagnostic tasks help you as a teacher to check your students' understanding of algebra and equations. "Diagnostiske oppgaver i algebra og likninger" heading with an "Algebra - Diagnostiske oppgaver" link

You will find the diagnostic tasks in the teaching material Mathematics 8, collected as a separate module.

The results overview gives students a good overview and feedback.

Teachers get a detailed overview of the student's performance. Teachers can use this to detect misconceptions and for further follow-up of the student.

Methodical training in solving text problems.

In order for students to be able to create meaning in a mathematical text, they must have competence in reading complex texts (Fredheim, Utdanningsforskning.no, 2014). In the new mathematics teaching materials 8, 9 and 10 you will find a separate module with exercises where students can practice solving text exercises based on Fredheim Screenshot of a maths task "Oppgave 3c - 2017" about dividing 28 000 L of diesel and petrol in the ratio 3:5

You can read more about Fredheim's method in the article from Utdanningsforskning.no (2014).

You will find the exercises as a separate module in Mathematics 8, 9 and 10.
